 Parish Operations Update - March 25, 2020

Out of love for our neighbors and our desire to help slow the spread of the virus, the governor’s order requires us to make further changes to how we operate and minister. At the same time, we must continue to care for the spiritual needs of our parishioners. Below is an outline of these key changes.

Church Open for Prayer

Our church will be open from prayer from 9:30-12:30 for those who want to come for private prayer. There will be a staff member or volunteer present to manage social distancing and to disinfect after each person leaves

Scheduled public confessions will be cancelled.

Again, we want to remind everyone to follow the CDC guidelines: those over 60, have underlying health issues or have any illness or symptoms please stay home.

Priest Availability

If through these trying times, you would like to talk to a priest or have need of confession, you can reach out to Fr. Nagel (frnagel@hfkparish.org) or Fr. Tyler (frtyler@hfkparish.org) to schedule a time to meet in the church.

Livestreaming Mass

Masses will continue to be streamed on the Holy Family YouTube Channel.  These Masses will no longer include staff members or musicians but will involve only priests. We can remotely start and stop our video streaming, so there will be no videographer in attendance.

Baptisms and Weddings

This order requires us to postpone all gatherings including weddings and baptisms. The only exception would be for a private baptism when there is a grave danger of death.

Funerals

Based on the order, all funerals will be postponed. We will wait to schedule a memorial Mass with the family once the ban has been lifted. Similarly, cemeteries will be closed for burial ceremonies at this time.

Holy Week Resources for Families

Please know that various chancery offices are working together to provide resources for parishioners to assist them in a faithful and fruitful experience of Palm Sunday and the Sacred Triduum. These resources are forthcoming and will be issued in time for these liturgies. Watch for this information in future emails.

Prayer for Spiritual Communion:

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most holy Eucharist. I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Seattle

Holy Mary, we come before you as spiritual children in great need, seeking your intercession, and asking that your mantle of love surround us to console, protect, and lead us to your son Jesus.

We entrust all of God’s family, especially the church in Western Washington, into your immaculate hands. With your son Jesus’ gentle power you can undo any knot in our church, and in the lives of believers who entrust themselves to your care.

Today I especially entrust to you the victims of coronavirus, the healthcare providers who are ministering to them, and the full community, and I ask that – through your intercession, and that of St. James, our guardian angels, and the faithful in our archdiocese – we may be free from every spiritual and temporal ill, and be safely led to encounter Your son’s merciful, sacred heart.

Our Lady of Seattle, Undoer of Knots, pray for us!
