Make Masks for CCS Sewing Bee

Join the CCS Sewing Bee to help make 10,000 masks for the safety of CCS/CHS front line staff who are working around the clock to provide essential services to our vulnerable neighbors in need.  Click HERE for simple sewing instructions.  Note: There are no drop off locations near Holy Family.  Email Andrea Liggett andrea@hfkparish.org when you have some ready to donate; she will be collecting the masks and delivering them to CCS.

UPDATE: With elastic hard to come by, here is a hot tip from a blogger: cut knit material, like old t-shirts, into strips of 1” x 18” – no need to hem. When you yank on them, they naturally curl into a tube. Click HERE for a tutorial video.

Write Letters of Love

The campaign is simple!  Work with your child(ren) to write a friendly letter to be received by a neighbor in need.  Once the letter is complete, please scan or photograph it.  Then, email the image to andrea@hfkparish.org.  Andrea will place the children's letters into grocery bundles and care packages for homebound parishioners.  A simple act, a gift of love.  Will you join us?

Do you need a template with a graphic organizer, a sample letter and friendly letter paper? Email andrea@hfkparish.org for a template.  Other ideas include:  using stationery from home, adding a decorative border or including a small illustration.  Letters will be received around Easter time so Easter greetings are welcome.  We encourage your child to sign their letter with their first name only.

Thanks Molly P. (HFK parishioner and school parent) for the idea!  She was inspired by Fr. Nagel's homily below.

Give Your Treasure

Donate to CRS Rice Bowl

As we enter Holy Week, we celebrate the gift of the Eucharist as our heavenly food. We continue to reflect on the challenge of global hunger. How does our faith inspire us to share the gifts that God has bestowed on us? Visit crsricebowl.org for more.  Donate to CRS Rice Bowl >

Donate Diapers for PREPARES

You can help a family from the comfort of your home! Parents are in dire need of disposable diapers right now, and PREPARES is helping to deliver them! Purchase a box of diapers online from any retailer and have the box shipped to PREPARES, 209 NW 191st, Shoreline, WA  98177.

Get Inspired

Listen to Fr. Nagel's homily on "magnanimous charity" and taking "prudent risks out of love" during this time.

Lake Chelan EMS has created an educational video that goes through the ins and outs of "How To Be A Good Neighbor" during the COVID-19 Pandemic.  They take an entertaining approach toward educating anyone who wants to know more about this crisis and how they can safely help a "high risk" neighbor.  Click HERE to watch!

How You Can Help - during the year

Crossroads Meal Program provides a meal to low-income people living in the Crossroads Mall area on the first Thursday of every month. Volunteers help prepare the food in the Social hall kitchen and then deliver and serve the meal at the Salvation Army location in Bellevue. Meal preparation begins at 3:30 and the evening ends by 7:30. Homemade cookies are also needed to serve with the meal. Contact Wes and Julia Proudlove at jproudlove@cpahsa.com.

The Malawi Sister Parish Committee works to support our sister parish relationship with the Nguludi Catholic Mission in Nguludi, Malawi, Africa. Through sharing prayer requests, fostering mutual understanding, building individual relationships, exchanging parish delegations, offering financial support and implementing improvement projects, this unique covenant provides for a mutual sharing of faith, experience and culture among the members of the two communities. For more information, visit the Malawi website, http://www.hfkmalawi.org/ or contact Sharon Bastasini at sharon.sundance@gmail.com.

New Bethlehem Homeless Shelter Recognizing God’s call to serve the poor, the New Bethlehem Project has created a Day Center for Homeless Families on the Eastside.  We have also extended the Overnight Shelter for Homeless Families to be year-round and we are in the process of working to build a combined Day Center and Overnight Shelter to serve these families 7 days a week. For information on how you can help please check their website at www.nbpshelter.org or email Andrea Liggett, andrea@hfkparish.org, (425) 822-0295, ext. 110.

Respect Life Committee works to raise awareness of the unique value of every human life, from conception to natural death, seeing each person as God’s gift. We are involved in specific projects in the life of the Church. Our continuing education and service to the church and in the community, is also important. Prayer life among us is top priority. Rosary Makers gather on the last Wednesday of the month to make rosaries for missions, prisons, soldiers and anyone else who needs them.  All supplies are provided, and no experience is necessary. For more information, contact Andrea Liggett, andrea@hfkparish.org, (425) 822-0295, ext. 110.

Sandwich Makers for the Lazarus Day Center meet on the 7th of each month at 8:00AM in the Social Hall to make sandwiches for homeless men and women.  This is a wonderful ministry to do with your school-age children.  Drivers pick up bread and deliver sandwiches to downtown Seattle. Substitute drivers are always needed; sandwich makers and sandwich fillings are always welcome. For more information please contact Jane Vimont, tr.vimont@frontier.com.

Shared Blessings Meals Ministry looks for volunteers willing to cook for parishioners in need (i.e. new baby, illness, death in the family, etc.). Volunteers receive an email when someone is requesting meals and can sign up for a date to cook and deliver a meal. There are no meetings to attend or long-term commitments to make. Just send email to Christina Jones at joneschristinamarie@yahoo.com.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads participants to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person outreach to those who are needy and suffering. Volunteers are needed to go on home visits to meet the people in need in their homes.  Volunteers always go in two’s as Jesus sent his disciples.  For more information about current outreach projects and ways to get involved, click here.
